After graduating from Emory University School of Dentistry in 1968, and practicing dentistry for over 30 years, I still continue a constant quest to improve my skills and knowledge, thus ability to help my patients.
After dental school, I joined the service and was an Army Dentist in Thailand during the Vietnam war.  Upon returning to the States, I practiced in the Palm Beach FL area, then moved to the Tampa Bay area in the 1990s.
I now practice both neuromuscular (relating to the nerves and muscles of the head and neck) and holistic/ biological dentistry, have not placed a mercury amalgam filling since 1986, and not done a root canal since 1994.
Holistic dentistry first caught my attention while working in Palm Beach, and since then have been continually learning so as to better help my patients.  As a result, I am one of the very few dentists in the US who practices both holistic/biological as well as neuromuscular dentistry.   You may reach me via my email

And some of the people who have been an inspiration to continue learning more about dentistry (but not necessarily in this order) are:

The brilliant Dr. Norman Thomas, who has more degrees than I have fingers on my hands.  He is Clinical Director at Las Vegas Institute, and has been instrumental in keeping dentistry interesting and exciting for me.  One of my prized possessions is a signed photo of Dr. Thomas, myself and my wife.

Drs. Weston Price and Francis Pottenger  These two gentlemen were ahead of their time, and proved that a healthy diet created sound bone structure, teeth and an optimum mouth.

Royal Raymond Rife is, in my opinion, the father of Energetic Medicine.

    Dear Dr Behm,

I am a past patient of yours. (silver amalgam/tattoo removal) I have recently been diagnosed with internal resorption of #11 tooth by a dentist in my insurance plan. I am experiencing no pain or discomfort at this time. He is referring me to an endodontist for a root canal assessment. I would prefer to have this procedure done by a natural dentist. Do you perform root canals or do you refer out? Are there other options that I may consider?

    Sincerely,

    Rich Lumazza

Hi Amy, We do not know of any holistic pedodontist in this area, but there is a woman in Tampa who will place white fillings rather than amalgams. Call our office for her name.

Dr Behm, For the last eight years I have been a patient of Dr Steven Green, Holistic Dentist, in Miami. This past week he retired. I am currently living in North Port and it appears you are one of the closest Holistic Dentist in FL. Also currently I am having a problem with a root canaled molar (#30). The root canal was done aprox. 9 years ago. I have been monitoring it for some time and it is creating a discomfort that extends under the jaw and at times down the neck. I believe it needs to be removed and a bridge made. I see from your webpage you do extractions and I would like to know how much it would cost and whether you do bridges and how much that would be.
I would appreciate any direction you could give me.
    Gene Case

Testimonials
I have been a patient of Dr. Behm’s for about four years now. I’m 57 years old, and have lived in 5 different states, so I’ve seen several dentists over the years. I can say without a doubt that Ray Behm is the best dentist I’ve ever had. More than that, as far as I’m concerned, he sets a new, higher standard for dentists. First of all, Dr. Behm cares for people.
