Hi Kristi,
Even though I cannot diagnose without seeing your son, or at least his x-rays, I'm sorry to say that this sounds like a dental fistula.
That would indicate that the tooth is dead. Is it a permanent or baby tooth? Has the source of these infections been identified? In many cases it is the bite that is off, which is torquing the teeth repeatedly thus killing them. We offer ozone root canals, which I feel is a viable alternative.
Best,
Dr. Behm

Hi Carol,
The only way we know is to have the gutta percha removed by an endodontist, then we do several ozone treatments over a period of a few weeks, then the endodontist refills the canal with gutta percha. I don't think that just injecting ozone into the area will clean it up sufficiently.

Hello, can ozone treatment still be done if you already have a root canal and crown?

Hi Sally,
Yes, the gutta percha would have to come out. The endodontist would do that step, then you would come in to ud twice for the ozone treatment, then the endodontist would refill the tooth.
Best,
Dr. Behm

Hi John,
I would say it's definitely worth a try retreating that tooth with ozone, which will effectively kill all bacteria, fungus and virus on contact. However, many times a loose tooth is due to improper bite. The teeth touch thousands of times a day, and if they don't fit together perfectly, each bite creates torque, which can cause a tooth to become loose, die, become infected/inflamed, cause gum problems, etc. Unfortunately, I have advanced training in adjusting the bite that is not taught in dental school, so most doctors are not aware of it.

I suspect your doctors at the VA would not be receptive to ozone treatment or precision bite adjustment, as it is not the norm in dentistry.

The only implant material I would recommend is Zirconium ceramic implants. As you know, I personally do not think metal in the mouth is good.

Call our office at 446-6747 and speak to one of the team re an appointment.

Best,
Ray Behm

Hi Rosemary,
Is the tooth bothering you? One can have the tooth treated with ozone, which kills all bacteria, virus and fungus.
Where do you live?

Hi Susan,
We are sending people to Dr. Anthony, who uses materials we recommend and coordinates with us on getting two ozone treatments during the procedure. These root canal teeth test strong even after 5 years.

Whom are you currently referring to for root canals if a patient opts for one?
