Making an appointment at our office, what you can expect.

Dr. Behm is accepting new patients at this time.

We have three kinds of initial appointments:  a limited exam or full exam with Dr. Behm or an appointment with our hygienist, Lorraine.  For more information on how she can help you, please go to Gum Health on the menu bar.

The limited exam with Dr. Behm is for those who have one issue they want to address, such as a toothache, a broken tooth/filling/crown, any one particular problem.  We will take one or two digital x-rays (which use less radiation than film x-rays)  if necessary, and diagnose the problem.  In most cases, we can quickly schedule you to get the problem fixed.  This visit is $112.

The more comprehensive full exam includes a full mouth set of digital x-rays, periodontal probing, a full oral exam, photographs, models when necessary and kinesiology by Dr. Behm.  This is for those who want a full overview of what is going on in their mouth, or have several issues they want to address, such as amalgam removal, neuromuscular (involving the nerves and muscles of the face, head and neck) dentistry, and addressing other toxic issues, such as cavitations.  The price for this exam is $300.

Give Sarah a call at 727-446-6747 to make an appointment

To make an appointment, please
call Sarah at 727 446-6747 or email her.

She will do a brief questionnaire with you on the phone regarding your health, answer your questions, and find out what you need and want from us, etc.

Also, please write down a chronological report of your health history, and fax or email it to Sarah before your appointment.  Dr. Behm is very interested to know what your health challenges have been, it will help him to help you better.

This should include your current symptoms and concerns.  Please describe them briefly but thoroughly, estimating how long you have experienced each symptom and grading it on a scale of 1 to 10 (1 = mild, 10 = severe).

If you are addressing any medical issues with another health practitioner, we appreciate your sending or bringing copies of your medical records, tests and medication history that may pertain to your dental situation.

Before your first visit, you may find it useful to spend some time writing about the events in your life as they relate to your health – or creating a timeline of your health issues and major life events.  This can help you crystalize your sense of what’s going on with respect to your health, thus making things easier to recall and discuss during your visit.  You might even see relationships and patterns among the events that weren’t apparent to you before. If you do this writing, please bring it with you or include it with the other material you send.

At the beginning of your first visit, Dr. Behm will meet with you to know you as an entire person – not just your current health concerns, but your needs, desires and values, as well.  After this conversation, Dr. Behm and an assistant will conduct a thorough oral exam and other tests, including kinesiology, to determine your current dental health status.  If especially extensive testing is needed, this first visit may be extended over two days.

Also, please print out the following patient forms, fill them out and bring with you on your first appointment.

- Patient Information

- Scheduling Policy

- Kinesiology Informed Consent

- Amalgam Removal Informed Consent

- Ozone Informed Consent

Confirming your Appointment

We will call you 1 week in advance to confirm your appointment, and the day before to remind you.  We actually need to SPEAK to you in person on the phone to ensure you are going to be coming.  Just leaving a voice mail or message with a family member is not enough for us to know that you will be able to make it.

If something comes up that you cannot make an appointment, please let us know as much in advance as possible.  Either call the office at 727 446-6747 or send us and email

If we are not able to reach you and speak to you in person to confirm your appointment, we will not be able to hold that time period for you, and will have to take you out of the schedule.

Therefore, it is imperative that we have a way to contact you, ideally a few telephone numbers and an email address.

Hours

Presently our office is open from 8am to 8pm, Monday through Friday.  The hygienist’s hours are from 8am to 5pm.  Dr. Behm sees patients from 1pm to 8pm.

Insurance

Many ask us about dental insurance.  We do not accept “assignment of benefits.”   That means we do not accept insurance as payment for the visit.   We are not members of any discount or group plans.

We are a fee for service practice, which means that the appointment is paid for at that time.  We can give you an insurance “super bill” at the end of your appointment, which you can send to your insurance company, and they will reimburse you directly based on the terms of your coverage.

We accept Visa, MasterCard, Care Credit, American Express, and personal checks from established patients.

Testimonials
I have been a patient of Dr. Behm’s for about four years now. I’m 57 years old, and have lived in 5 different states, so I’ve seen several dentists over the years. I can say without a doubt that Ray Behm is the best dentist I’ve ever had. More than that, as far as I’m concerned, he sets a new, higher standard for dentists. First of all, Dr. Behm cares for people.
